There was not much between the first 3 at the finish, and even less between half a dozen of them going to 2 out, and this form cannot be rated especially highly. That said, it did end up being a reasonable test, the sound surface offset to a large degree by a sound pace (100.1% finishing speed for final 3f), and the overall time appears useful.
MAXIMILIAN (h137 here and previously) is a dour stayer and perhaps it was no surprise that he failed to shine at 20f the time before (though was found to have bled there and had a wind operation since), returning to the form he showed at Bangor in November but taking almost all of the trip to do it. He was niggled at various stages and dropped to the rear mid-race before staying on into contention after 2 out, leading early on the run-in and seeing it out well despite edging right.
STAY AWAY FAY (h136 here, 131+ previously) improved a bit on the form of his Newbury win and should go on again, though, judged on this, he does nothing in a hurry. He travelled OK in mid-field before being rousted along and tapped for toe before 3 out, staying on to challenge when briefly short of room at the last and keeping on.
HURRICANE BAY (h133 here, 121 previously) saw out nearly all of the longer trip in running easily his best race, despite doing plenty earlier in the race, quite free and mostly in second, going on before 3 out and in there fighting until emptying near the finish. He could be interesting in handicaps at this trip or shorter if the assessor does not over-react.
PARK THIS ONE (h123 here, 126 previously) ran creditably despite seeming to find the trip plenty far enough, a bit free early and quite close up until weakening after 2 out.
MAHONS GLORY (h123 here, 127 previously) ran respectably but possibly found this a bit far at this stage, held up rear but in touch until making headway before 3 out, weakening after the next.
TWIG (h113+ here, 132 previously) ran better than the result, well there before weakening quickly between the last 2 (went as short as 5/2 in running).
GRAND SOIR (h108 here, 132 previously) ran no sort of race.
THE WOUNDED KNEE (h0 here, 135 previously) did too much racing quite freely in the lead.
IDALKO BIHOUE (h0 here, 131 previously) promised to be effective at this longer trip but ran abysmally.
ROCK ON COWBOY (h0 here, 109 previously)
