Expert Analysis
Another European G1 sprint and another different winner, though Arizona Blaze is slightly better than 1 or 2 of the others, and this represents smart form at least. Those drawn 1 to 5 were a little separated towards the far side, and provided the first 3 home, but 2 of those were among the market principals and there was probably no track bias in reality. The winner’s final 2f of 23.76s (99.4% finishing speed) on good to soft going confirms that the pace earlier had been quite a strong one.
ARIZONA BLAZE (115 here and previously) fluffed his lines in the Nunthorpe but was back to his very best here, showing good pace, leading 2f out and pressing on then holding on gamely for pressure. The form of the Commonwealth Cup (in which he was 2nd to Time For Sandals) is looking a bit better than it was at one stage.
NIGHTEYES (108 here, 104 previously) ran a new personal best having come up short in G3s on her previous 2 starts, bumped at the start and outpaced for a long way, late headway to be nearest at the finish on her first run at the minimum in over a year.
BUCANERO FUERTE (110 here, 116 previously) ran respectably, possibly a bit better at 6f than this 5f, good speed to lead but headed 2f out then rallying a bit late.
SHE’S QUALITY (106 here, 108 previously) performed creditably again despite still having a fair bit to do 2f out, never nearer. She is very useful but may need things to drop just right.
NIGHT RAIDER (109 here, 107 previously) ran well and in typical style, close up, disputing the lead mid-race and only really giving best in the final 100y.
MGHEERA (104 here, 108 previously) got away better than she sometimes does and ran respectably, improving from mid to rear until one paced late on.
ASFOORA (101 here, 114 previously) could not repeat her form from York on this softer ground, tracking the pace and going OK, briefly disputing 3rd then weakening late on.
TWO STARS (96 here, 108 previously) showed up quite well towards the stand side until carrying his head to one side/edging right and no extra.
