Criterium De Maisons-Laffitte Stakes - Group 2
2YO only
Winner €119,700 - 6 ran
Heavy
Draw Advantage: High
A race that has gone to some good winners over the years (as well as a few of much lesser standing), including Hello Youmzain in 2018 and Charyn in 2022.
There are reasons to view this year’s form fairly positive, featuring a well-run race on soft going, with the runners quite well strung out. The winner’s final 400m of 24.61s gives a finishing speed of 100.4%.
SKY MAJESTY (109 here, 99+ previously) improved a fair bit further to preserve her unbeaten record, clearly a very useful filly already and possibly open to further improvement. She raced in third and was being niggled before halfway, leading narrowly and being ridden 200m out, pulling out plenty thereafter and pushed out by the finish. She is sprint bred (by Blue Point, dam fairly useful 5f winner) and not sure to be as effective at 7f despite some encouragement from her striding.
DAYLIGHT (105 here, 107 previously) was probably close to form, if not definitely right up to it, having been put in her place even more emphatically by Lake Victoria in the Cheveley Park at Newmarket the time before, in second, asked for her effort 400m out but producing a limited response until keeping on near the finish. She hashad plenty of racing and is unlikely to be better as a 3yo than she is now as a 2yo.
UNE POINTURE (101 here, ? previously) showed useful form, leading until 200m out.
ESTEPONA (95 here, 98 previously) ran creditably in the face of another stiff task.
POLYVEGA (87 here, 100 previously)
SPIRIT d’Or (0 here, 94 previously)
