Joseph O'Brien (11 February 2025): "We’ve been delighted with Banbridge since the King George. Everyone knows at this stage that he has a big preference for better ground, so we’ll leave all options open for Cheltenham just in case there is changeable weather that week. That said, if all things were equal and the ground was right for him all week, the Gold Cup is the one we’d really like to run in. In terms of his stamina for the longer trip, it isn’t something I’m concerned about. If we get unlucky and the ground was too soft for him at Cheltenham, we’d look to go to Aintree with him instead. He seems to be getting better and hopefully we haven’t found his ceiling yet."

Joseph O'Brien (23 December 2024): "All roads lead to the King George VI Chase at Kempton. This has been his target all season. It was always the intention to run in the two races that he did to lead him into Kempton, and we’re delighted with how it’s gone. He obviously had a mishap when interfered with at the final fence in the Hilly Way last time, but he was running a huge race at that stage. I don’t know how the race would have went, but he looked to be winding up for his characteristic strong finish and even if Energumene had still beaten him, going close when giving 10lb to such a good horse would have been a massive effort. He came out of the race really well and his work since then has been exactly what we were looking for. He is proven at the track and while his stamina is an unknown, we feel he shouldn’t have any issues on that front. Everyone knows at this stage that we feel good ground is a big help to him, so the weather forecast is definitely pleasing us at the minute. The better the ground, the better his chance. We are reapplying the cheekpieces that he wore for the first time when winning the Grade 1 chase at the Punchestown Festival in April."

Joseph O'Brien (27 February 2024): "We have been training him for the Ryanair Chase all season. We would have loved to have run him more than we have to this point in the season, but everyone knows that we feel he has a notable preference for better ground, and we were always conscious that he was likely to have a busy spring, so we didn’t want to run him on unsuitable ground for the sake of it. We were delighted with his performance in the Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton and that form has been well advertised since. That was a career-best effort, and we feel that there is scope for more to come from him. The ground really is the key for him. We pulled him out of the Turners’ Novices’ Chase last year when the rain arrived on the day and we’d consider doing the same this year if that happened again, but his preparation has gone particularly well, and we’ll run him if we can at all. Aintree and Punchestown will be on his agenda too."

Joseph O'Brien (18 October 2023): "He had a really good novice chase campaign last season, and it was great to win a Grade 1 with him. He has done very well over the summer, and we are looking forward to getting him back on the track. We haven’t picked a target for him yet, but the one thing we have in mind is that we wouldn’t run him on testing ground. The November Meeting at Cheltenham is an option for him. We are happy with mid-range trips for him at the minute, so the likes of the Ryanair Chase and the Melling Chase at Aintree would be obvious long-term targets for him."

Joseph O'Brien (21 February 2023): "We always like to keep our options open for as long as we can, but I’d say it’s looking much more likely that he’ll go for the Turners Novices’ Chase rather than the Arkle Challenge Trophy. That could change if leading contenders started to drop out of the Arkle, but that’s what we are thinking based on the current fields. We were a bit surprised that he got as outpaced as he did in the Irish Arkle, but that was a red-hot Grade 1 run at an unrelenting pace and he’s never experienced anything like that. You have to remember that he progressed steadily up the hurdling ranks and didn’t have Grade 1 experience over shorter trips. He can only improve from that and given the way he shaped, he is likely to be more comfortable over a mid-range trip at the top level."

Joseph O'Brien (28 October 2022): "We were delighted with his winning chasing debut at Gowran Park. He jumped notably well and there was a lot of promise in it. We are aiming him at a Grade 3 novice chase at Cork on November 6th. If all went well there, we’d be hopeful of going to the Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse with him. I’d say there’s every chance he could be a very good novice chaser."

Joseph O'Brien (08 March 2022): "I’d say he’ll go for the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle. He is still quite unexposed and looks to be progressing, so he looks to have the right profile for the race. Two miles has been sharp enough for him in his last two starts and stepping back up to a mid-range trip should suit him. I’m hopeful that there’s more to come from him."
